Highlights & Key Features

LE Audio Wireless Transmission
The RS 120-W is built on the LE Audio standard, using Bluetooth Low Energy radio and the new power-saving LC3 audio codec for outstanding digital sound quality and longer battery life. With a free line of sight, the wireless transmission range is up to 60 meters (approximately 200 feet), allowing you to move freely around your home — sit on your patio, walk to the kitchen, or move between rooms without losing your audio. If you leave the transmission range, sound quality deteriorates until the connection breaks down. If you re-enter within 3 minutes, the connection is automatically re-established; otherwise, the headphones must be switched off and on manually. The transmitter operates in the 2,400 MHz to 2,483.5 MHz frequency band with a maximum RF output power of 10 mW.

Broadcast Audio
Using the Broadcast Audio feature — part of the LE Audio standard — you can connect any number of HDR 120-W headphones to a single TR 120-W transmitter for synchronized listening. There is no limitation on the number of headphones that can be simultaneously connected. This makes the system ideal for couples, families, or group viewing environments where multiple listeners want to enjoy the same TV or music source, each with their own independent volume control. Additional HDR 120-W headphones are available separately.

Three Sound Modes
The TR 120-W transmitter features a sound mode selector with three profiles to tailor your audio. Speech mode enhances vocal clarity, making it ideal for news, documentaries, and dialogue-heavy content. Music mode provides a balanced audio profile for listening to music. Neutral mode offers a flat frequency response for a natural, unprocessed sound. Select the mode on the transmitter to instantly change the audio profile for all connected headphones.

Volume & Audio Performance
The HDR 120-W headphones feature an ergonomic volume control dial on the right ear cup, allowing you to adjust volume independently of your TV's volume setting. Maximum volume output is 100 dB SPL (1 kHz / 1 mW), providing extra amplification for anyone who needs it. Total harmonic distortion is less than 0.7% at 1 kHz and 100 dB SPL. Volume is slightly reduced at the beginning of audio transmission and levels out within the first 1–2 minutes to prevent a sudden loud signal at switch-on.

Connectivity & Setup
The TR 120-W transmitter connects to your TV or audio source via two analog options: stereo RCA audio cable (included) or 3.5 mm headphone jack (using the included adapter). For audio sources with only a digital optical output, a separately ordered analog-to-digital converter is required. Setup requires no Bluetooth pairing or complex configuration — simply plug in and listen. The transmitter should be placed close to the audio source, at least 50 cm (20 inches) away from other wireless devices, and not near metal shelves, reinforced concrete walls, or other metal structures that could affect range. Some TV models may mute their built-in speakers when a device is connected to the 3.5 mm headphone jack; consult your TV's manual for settings.

Battery & Charging
The HDR 120-W headphones are powered by two included 1.2 V AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries providing up to 20 hours of operating time. To charge, simply place the headphones on the TR 120-W transmitter's headphone holder — the headphones switch off automatically and the CHARGE LED lights red. When fully charged, the LED turns off. Charging time is approximately 5 hours (to greater than 95% capacity). For first use, Sennheiser recommends charging for at least 24 hours without interruption to optimize battery performance. When the batteries are almost empty, you hear an alert tone every 60 seconds; the headphones switch off when the batteries are fully depleted. Replacement AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries can be used.

Comfort & Design
The HDR 120-W headphones use an on-ear (supra-aural) open design with plush fabric ear cushions and a low-pressure adjustable headband for lightweight comfort during long listening sessions. The ear pads are replaceable by twisting counterclockwise to remove and clockwise to lock new pads in place, with L and R markings for correct orientation. The headphones weigh 215 g including batteries. The TR 120-W transmitter doubles as a headphone stand and charging dock, providing a clean, space-saving setup next to your TV or audio system.

Pairing Additional Headphones
Additional HDR 120-W headphones can be paired to the TR 120-W transmitter. To pair, place the new headphones within 30 cm of the transmitter and switch them on. The headphones will search for the transmitter and connect automatically. Once paired, the headphones will reconnect to the transmitter each time they are switched on within range.
