The DALI PHANTOM backbox protects the speaker against moisture, dust, and dirt. Additionally, it keeps the sound quality consistent through symmetrical loading even if the acoustic environment behind the walls/ceiling is uneven. Utilizing a backbox allows the avoidance of rear sound radiation which reduces the acoustic leakage from room to room and from floor to floor. Highly recommended. 

Please note that the back box increases the mounting depth to 200mm.
