The Immersion Engine
It will feel like you're inside the game, the film, the music. Refining what immersive experience really means, the LS60 Wireless delivers truly realistic, high-fidelity sound for home entertainment. Its slim, plug and play design, packed with KEF's key technology, offers the whole package: not only does it look as good as it performs, it boasts extensive connectivity options. A transportive experience, powered by unequalled engineering.
Single Apparent Source (SAS) Configuration
The LS60 Wireless uses the Single Apparent Source driver configuration first seen in KEF's flagship Blade series, in which four LF driver cones are symmetrically placed on the sides of the enclosure around the Uni-Q driver. The acoustical centre of the LF driver array is almost coincident with the Uni-Q, creating a virtual source of sound that comes from one position in space over the entire loudspeaker bandwidth. This allows a narrow cabinet combined with a Uni-Q nearly as wide as the baffle, giving wide horizontal directivity and minimising baffle diffraction. The drivers are so well integrated there is virtually no way to tell when the output of one ends and the next one begins.
12th Generation 4" Uni-Q with MAT
A brand new 12th generation Uni-Q with a 4" (100mm) diameter was developed for the LS60 Wireless. The MF driver cone is aluminium and uses KEF's Cone Neck Decoupler technology to control breakup, while the HF driver uses an aluminium dome with a Tangerine Waveguide to widen directivity and increase sensitivity at high frequencies. A Tweeter Gap Damper controls sound passing into the gap between tweeter and midrange. The rear sound from the tweeter is controlled by KEF's patented Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), a joint development with Acoustic Metamaterials Group, with overall absorption of the rear wave exceeding 99% from 840Hz upwards. The Uni-Q chassis incorporates an integrated vibration decoupling scheme to ensure very little motor vibration reaches the cabinet.
Uni-Core Force-Cancelling LF Drivers
The four LF drivers are arranged into two Uni-Core units. Each Uni-Core is a slim 4.3" (110mm) deep unit housing two 5.25" (130mm) diameter long-excursion LF drivers that share the same motor, using two different voice coil diameters that overlap when moving backwards to save considerable depth — shedding 1.2" (30.5mm) from the baffle width compared to back-to-back drivers of equivalent excursion. Identical drivers mounted in opposing motion provide force cancelling, attenuating cabinet vibration by an astounding -20 dB broadband — equivalent to increasing cabinet mass in a non-force-cancelling system by a factor of 10 — ensuring everything the user hears is the output of the drivers and the cabinet itself is silent.
P-Flex Surround
The LF drivers use a 2nd generation P-Flex surround, a three-dimensionally pleated surround that does not restrict the pistonic movement of the driver or add mass, yet withstands the extreme air pressures inside the sealed cabinet. Its pleated shape unrolls freely with driver displacement while providing much greater geometrical stiffness against internal air pressure, avoiding the buckling and associated distortion of conventional half-roll surrounds.
Smart Distortion Control Technology (SDCT)
The LS60 Wireless is a closed-box loudspeaker relying on DSP equalisation to extend low frequency response with no ports. KEF's proprietary Smart Distortion Control Technology is a hybrid system that indirectly senses cone velocity from the voice coil current, feeding it into a negative feedback loop, combined with a DSP model of the driver that applies pre-correction to compensate for residual non-linearities. This provides a major reduction in distortion and is key to a small speaker producing deep, loud and clean bass.
Intelligent Bass Extension (iBX)
Rather than relying on driver and enclosure design alone, the LS60 Wireless uses high volume displacement drivers, high power and DSP equalisation to extend low frequency response. When "Extra" bass extension mode is selected, the LF section extends down to 26 Hz at normal to high listening levels; at higher levels, an algorithm dynamically controls output to keep the LF drivers safe from mechanical damage and distortion, with a smooth transition that does not detract from listening enjoyment.
Hybrid Amplification
Following statistical analysis of more than 40,000 pieces of real music, KEF specified a 500W amplifier for the LF section, 100W for MF and 100W for HF per speaker. Class D amplifiers were selected for the LF and MF sections for their thermal efficiency and high-fidelity sound quality, while a Class AB amplifier was selected for the HF section for its wide bandwidth and ability to deliver sudden large peaks for true High-Res support. The LF amplifier features the indirect voice coil current feedback sensing loop of Smart Distortion Control Technology.
Phase Correction
Phase Correction compensates for phase distortion by pre-filtering the signal through a special all-pass FIR filter with the reverse phase characteristics to the phase error introduced by the crossover, ensuring sound at all frequencies reaches the listener at the same time. As a 3-way design, the LS60 Wireless expands phase correction into a third driver section, made possible by the symmetrical SAS arrangement. This feature is enabled by default in the KEF Connect app and can be disabled using Expert Mode.
User Equalisation & Subwoofer Integration
DSP allows the user to tailor the listening experience to their room acoustics with Wall Mode, Treble Trim and three Bass Extension modes ("Extra", "Standard", "Less"). The KEF Connect app also allows the addition of subwoofers, with flexibility for a single or dual subwoofers playing combined left and right channel content as well as separate stereo subwoofers; "Basic" mode offers an easy menu of stepped options with preselected low- and high-pass filter values for pairing various KEF subwoofers, while "Expert" mode provides separation of the low- and high-pass filters for fully customisable integration.
Stream Anything
LS60 Wireless streams any source with peerless performance, no matter the music service, podcast or internet radio, delivering high-fidelity sound up to 24bit/384kHz.
Plug and Play Connectivity
LS60 Wireless supports all your wired sources, making it the perfect companion for TV, turntable, game console and more, with comprehensive connectivity including WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI eARC, Optical, Coaxial and RCA.
Different Rooms, Same Enjoyment
When partnered with other LS Wireless Collection speakers, you can use AirPlay 2, Chromecast or Roon to fill the entire house with the same playlist.
Impossibly Slim Design
With all of KEF's key technologies contained within its iconic slim structure, LS60 Wireless is a speaker system that looks as good as it sounds. Designed by Michael Young and the KEF product design team, it has a small footprint and slim profile so it can sit comfortably in most homes without requiring special listening rooms or awkward positioning.
