Powerful, inspired sound
The Onkyo passion for sound refinement is manifested in the inspiring Muse Series. The Y-40 provides a powerful and detailed soundstage that conveys the artist's true intention without compromise. Designed with a full digital circuit and an Axign class D amplifier equipped with MOS FET output, the Y-40 delivers an impressive 150W (4 ohms) of accurate power - driving any size speaker with authority and bringing out its full potential. Although it is a compact single integrated amplifier, it can powerfully drive a wide variety of speakers, from large floor standing speakers to small bookshelf speakers, to maximize their potential.

Smart, modern interface
The Onkyo Muse Series Y-40 features a 5.46-inch color LCD display that provides detailed information – such as the song currently playing and an analog-style VU meter – creating a cutting-edge experience. The display offers four screens: a standard screen showing input source and volume value, an information screen showing an illustration of the input source or an image of the music file alongside track information when the source is Network or USB, and two VU meter screens whose deflection width changes with speaker output. Display brightness is switchable across three dimmer levels.

Streaming and network playback
Seamlessly play connected devices or stream your content from any of the following built-in platforms: Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay 2, and Chromecast. Google Cast allows music to be streamed to the unit from apps on a smartphone, tablet, or laptop computer. AirPlay connects the unit to the same network as iOS devices for wireless playback of music files, including files stored on a PC with iTunes installed. The unit also supports streaming playback of music files stored on a PC or NAS on the same network via Music Server. The unit connects to the network via wired LAN or Wi-Fi, with IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac across the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands.

Onkyo Controller app
Using the Onkyo Controller app (available on all app stores, free for iOS and Android handsets) you can command the Y-40 and configure its settings for a transformative hi-fi experience - configuring Wi-Fi settings, switching inputs, adjusting volume, and adjusting sound.

Sound adjustment and DIRECT mode
Bass and treble are adjustable from +10.0 dB to -10.0 dB and balance from L 10.0 to R 10.0, each in 0.5 increments. A Vocal Enhancer adjusts vocal strength between -6.0 dB and +6.0 dB in 0.5 dB increments. DIRECT mode bypasses all sound quality adjustment functions including bass, treble, balance and vocal, and can be toggled during playback to compare before and after adjustment.

MY INPUT presets
Up to four combinations of settings can be registered to the MY INPUT buttons and recalled instantly, covering master volume, input selector, network service when the input selector is Network, treble, vocal enhancer, bass, and balance.

The compact design of the Onkyo Muse Series blends seamlessly into any home environment. The ventilated top plate features a traditional San Kuzushi pattern, expressing Onkyo's deep Japanese roots and uncompromising commitment to craftsmanship. The electrical circuitry design is precisely temperature-controlled so no fans are needed, enabling quieter operation and better sound quality. High-quality, audio-grade speaker terminals provide superior connection to any loudspeaker, supporting low impedance speakers from 4 Ω to 16 Ω and accepting bare wire, banana plug, or Y-spade plug connection.

Everything you need for epic audio
Featuring a host of audio connections, the Onkyo Muse Y-40 sports three pairs of analog RCA inputs, a COAX input, a phono input (MM compatible) with a GND terminal for the turntable ground wire, and an HDMI ARC input for video and gaming sound. It supports Ethernet and WiFi, enabling superior streaming playback. PRE OUT terminals allow connection to a power amplifier of your choice, and a USB port plays music files directly from a USB storage device.

Headphone listening
The unit supports headphones with the standard 6.3 mm plug, with a rated output of 80 mW + 80 mW, support for headphone impedances from 13 Ω to 600 Ω, and a headphone frequency response of 20 Hz - 40 kHz. While headphones are connected, no sound is output from the speakers or PRE OUT jacks.

Everyday convenience
An Auto Standby function places the unit in standby after 20 minutes without operation or audio. Network Standby keeps the network function active in standby so the unit can be powered on over the network from the app. HDMI CEC allows the unit to power on and off in conjunction with the TV. IR Lock disables remote controller operation where multiple Onkyo products share a room. Firmware can be updated over the network or via USB, and the on-screen language can be set to English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Swedish, or Italian.
