7-Channel Amplifier
The AVR-X2900H features discrete high-current amplifiers on all seven channels, delivering 95 watts per channel (8 Ω, 20 Hz – 20 kHz, T.H.D.: 0.08%, 2ch driven) and 125 watts per channel (6 Ω, 1 kHz, 0.7%, 2ch driven). Low impedance drivers provide operational stability for a wide range of speakers and create a balanced, tonal sound. The unit is compatible with speaker impedances of 4 – 16 Ω.

Dolby Atmos
The AVR-X2900H is equipped with a Dolby Atmos decoder that accurately reproduces the placement and movement of sound through the addition of overhead speakers, enabling a natural and realistic surround sound field. With virtualized Dolby Atmos, the Speaker Virtualizer engages all speakers to create a 3D audio sensation from legacy content even without height speakers.

Speaker Virtualizer
Speaker Virtualizer enables a more immersive experience from traditional channel-based speaker layouts through digital signal processing, including Dolby Atmos height virtualization and surround virtualization. Speaker Virtualizer is not for use when both height speakers and surround speakers are connected; height virtualization may be applied when surround speakers are connected.

DTS:X
The AVR-X2900H is equipped with the DTS:X decoder, an immersive object-based audio technology that removes the bounds of channels. The flexibility of objects allows sound to be scaled and moved around the room with greater accuracy, leading to a richer immersive audio experience. The DTS Neural:X upmixer extends non-object-based audio signals to natural and realistic multi-channel playback optimized for the connected speaker configuration.

DTS Virtual:X
DTS Virtual:X technology features DTS’s proprietary virtual height and virtual surround processing to deliver an immersive sound experience from any type of input source (stereo to 7.1.4 channel) and speaker configuration. DTS Virtual:X is not for use when height speakers are connected.

Dirac Live Room Correction
Dirac Live Room Correction, available as an optional upgrade, applies state-of-the-art, patented algorithms to analyze and digitally reduce room impact and enhance speaker performance, delivering a larger sweet spot, accurate staging, clarity, voice intelligibility, and deeper, tighter bass not otherwise possible. Audyssey MultEQ XT (Audyssey Silver)
Audyssey MultEQ XT uses multiple measurement positions to map the room and deliver precise, low-frequency-focused equalization. Dynamic EQ maintains full tonal balance at any volume level, while Dynamic Volume protects against sudden loud volume shifts in content. Audyssey setup is performed using the included sound calibration microphone and microphone stand, with up to eight measurement positions supported.

8K Video Support & HDCP 2.3
The AVR-X2900H supports 8K Ultra HD video with input and output at up to 60 frames per second (60p) and supports 4K at up to 120Hz. A built-in 8K video upscaling function allows 1080p and 4K video to be output via HDMI at 8K (7680 × 4320 pixels) resolution, producing high-definition images for any video source through a single HDMI cable. The unit is compatible with the HDCP 2.3 copyright protection standard.

Dolby Vision & HDR
The AVR-X2900H supports Dolby Vision, an HDR imaging technology that brings extraordinary color, contrast, and brightness to the screen from a compatible source device and TV. The unit also supports HDR (High Dynamic Range), HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), Dynamic HDR, and HDR10+ pass-through to optimize shadows and highlights; HLG offers HDR technology over broadcast content.

eARC
The eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) function is compatible with conventional ARC-compatible audio formats in addition to multichannel linear PCM, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD, and DTS:X — formats that a conventional ARC function cannot transmit. Connecting to an eARC-compatible television enables higher-quality surround playback of audio content played from the television via the HDMI OUT TV 1 connector. When a TV with ARC support is connected, the ARC function can be enabled from the unit’s menu.

HDMI Connectivity
The AVR-X2900H is equipped with 6 HDMI inputs and 2 HDMI outputs, enabling connection to various HDMI-compatible devices such as Blu-ray Disc players, game consoles, and HD video camcorders; both HDMI outputs allow simultaneous projection to two displays. HDMI inputs 4, 5, and 6 support 8K signals. HDMI Control (CEC) enables linked operation with compatible HDMI-connected devices, and HDMI Pass Through transmits the selected HDMI input signal to the HDMI output even in standby mode.

Next-Generation Gaming
The AVR-X2900H supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Quick Frame Transport (QFT), and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) for a smooth, lag-free gaming experience when connected to compatible gaming devices. 4K/120Hz video and AMD FreeSync™ are supported. A dedicated Game video processing mode minimizes processing delay for gaming content.

Powered by HEOS
HEOS is an app-based whole-home audio system that allows streaming from leading services and playing the same song in every room or selecting a different song for each connected room, controlled from the HEOS app (available for iOS, Android, and Amazon devices). Multiple products with HEOS Built-in connected to the same network can be grouped to play the same music on up to 16 products simultaneously, with up to 32 total HEOS products supported in a system. The All Zone Stereo function allows music playing in the MAIN ZONE to be played simultaneously in ZONE2.

High-Resolution Audio
The AVR-X2900H supports playback of high-resolution audio formats including DSD (up to 5.6 MHz) and FLAC (up to 192 kHz) via USB and network. Additional supported formats include WMA, MP3, WAV, MPEG-4 AAC, and Apple Lossless. The unit is DLNA compatible and supports playback of music files and playlists (m3u, wpl) stored on PCs and NAS devices on the local network. The Restorer function generates signals eliminated during audio compression, restoring the sound closer to the original recording and restoring original bass characteristics for a rich and expanded tonal range.

Streaming & Network Services
The AVR-X2900H supports Apple AirPlay 2 for synchronized simultaneous playback across multiple AirPlay 2-compatible devices (requires iOS 11.4 or later), Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, and Roon Ready. Internet radio is available via TuneIn Radio with up to 56 preset stations storable. The unit supports both wired (Ethernet) and wireless (Wi-Fi) network connections.

Bluetooth
The AVR-X2900H supports wireless connection with Bluetooth devices including smartphones, tablets, and PCs, with a communication range of approximately 98.4 ft (30 m). The A2DP profile is required for audio playback; AVRCP profile support enables remote control operation from the unit’s remote. Up to 8 Bluetooth devices can be paired simultaneously. The unit also functions as a Bluetooth transmitter, enabling audio to be sent wirelessly to Bluetooth headphones in either Bluetooth + Speakers mode (simultaneous output with the main zone speakers) or Bluetooth Only mode.

Multi-Source / Multi-Zone
The AVR-X2900H supports two-source, two-zone audio, enabling independent playback of different sources in the main zone and ZONE2. ZONE2 can be driven via the unit’s built-in amplifier (using the SURROUND BACK speaker terminals when Amp Assign is set to 5.1ch + ZONE2) or via an external amplifier connected to the ZONE2 analog pre-out. The TV Audio Sharing function allows ZONE2 to mirror the MAIN ZONE input — including original audio formats such as Dolby Atmos — while maintaining full surround playback in the MAIN ZONE.

Additional Features
The AVR-X2900H includes a built-in FM/AM tuner with up to 56 preset stations. The Denon Setup Assistant provides guided on-screen setup instructions for speakers, network, and connected components. A built-in web user interface provides access to system settings and controls directly from a computer or mobile device without requiring the TV to be on. Onscreen channel level monitoring provides real-time insight into speaker output levels by channel. The Denon AVR Remote app enables full control of the unit and access to its setup menu from an iPad, iPhone, or Android device on the same network. Josh.ai voice control integration supports voice commands for the unit and other connected home devices. An ECO Mode function reduces power consumption during use, and an auto-standby function automatically turns off power when the unit is not in use.
