Enhanced Digital Performance
A new high-performance DAC is designed to extract more detail, clarity and depth from every recording. Whether rediscovering a familiar album or exploring something new, it reveals greater nuance and precision — bringing listeners closer to the original performance. The CD 70 employs a DAC Master Clock Design, and its digital section incorporates a DAC IC, digital filter and noise shaper. A selectable filter is provided for CD playback. Total harmonic distortion measures 0.0016%, with a dynamic range of 100 dB, a signal-to-noise ratio of 110 dB, and channel separation of 98 dB across a 2 Hz – 20 kHz frequency response.

Marantz HDAM-SA2 Circuitry
The CD 70 is built with Marantz HDAM and HDAM-SA2 circuitry, high grade audio components, and customised components throughout. The design employs a symmetric circuit layout and a separated rectifier circuit for analogue and digital circuitry, with a toroidal power transformer supplying the unit. An extra metal plate provides chassis strengthening.

High-Res USB Playback
High-resolution playback via the front USB input supports a wide range of digital formats, including FLAC, ALAC and DSD. This extends performance beyond physical discs, offering flexibility while maintaining exceptional sound quality. The front USB-A input handles FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC and DSD files. Disc playback covers CD, CD-R/RW, WMA and MP3, with ID3 tag, WMA meta tag and AAC metadata support; SA-CD and AAC disc playback are not supported, and data disc playback of DSD, WAV and ALAC is not supported. Program play accommodates 25 tracks, with repeat and random play available.

Headphone Amplifier
A fully discrete headphone amplifier, built with HDAM circuitry, delivers dedicated performance for personal listening. With selectable gain and refined tuning, it provides clarity, control, and musicality whether listening through headphones or speakers. The headphone stage is a buffer type using HDAM-SA2, with headphone volume control provided.

Connectivity & Control
The CD 70 provides 2-channel analogue output on gold plated cinch connectors, along with one digital optical output and one digital coaxial output. A D-Bus connection is provided, and the digital output can be switched off. The unit features a VFD display with dimmer and off settings, a metal front panel, a detachable power cable, and auto power off. The RC006PMCD remote control is included.
